Gross value added by industry sector
The total gross output (food, beverages and tobacco) of the Swiss food industry amounted to CF 32.37 billion in 2007 and the gross value added to CHF 8.30 billion. The Swiss agricultural industry generated a total gross output of CHF 10.64 billion with a gross value added of CHF 5.61 billion.

Gross value added: increase in value of goods during the production process; corresponds to the gross output minus advances
Gross output: value of produced goods and services; for sale or personal use, as a company advance or as production of self-produced assets. Changes to stock is also taken into consid-eration.
